The award recognizes excellence in graduate student research from across the College of Engineering and is given to students who have demonstrated excellence in research through peer-reviewed publications in journals and conference proceedings, awards for research, recognized contributions to the research field and society, leadership within a research community, academic achievements and participation in professional societies.

ECE graduate students Junil Choi and Han Liu have received the 2014 College of Engineering Outstanding Research Awards. They were recognized at the Spring Graduate Student Awards luncheon held on April 16th and received a certificate. The award recognizes excellence in graduate student research from across the College of Engineering. This honor is given to students who have demonstrated excellence in research through peer-reviewed publications in journals and conference proceedings, awards for research, recognized contributions to the research field and society, leadership within a research community, academic achievements and participation in professional societies.

Junil Choi is advised by Prof. David Love. He has been working on designing advanced wireless communication systems including massive/distributed MIMO. He has published many journal and conference papers and received a IEEE Globecom best paper award in 2013.

Han Liu is advised by Prof. Peide Ye. He has been working on the devices based on novel 2D semiconductors. Many of his previous works have been published in Nano Lett, ACS Nano, IEEE EDL, and also highlighted by Nature, Science News, Electronics Weekly and Chemistry World.
