This document provides a brief overview of the differences in operating system, system tools, development packages, and application software found in CentOS 7 and Ubuntu 18.04, versus CentOS 6. Most of the focus is on versions, with a little bit of info and link to another KB concerning the modules system, and job scheduling. All of the software versions listed should be considered under the blanket statement of "as of the time of this writing", and are of course subject to incremental updates, as ECN will be applying vendor supplied bug-fix and security updates, as an ongoing effort to keep our systems up to date, and secure.
