18 lessons learned from growing an award-winning student organization: Marcus Lannie

Senior Marcus Lannie spearheaded the growth of Purdue's chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) from 10 to 300 members while President. Before he graduated, Marcus shared the 18 personal lessons he learned from his leadership experience with ASME, to help other students and professionals to maximize their own opportunities.

Winning senior design project makes graphene manufacturing easier

A team of Purdue mechanical engineering students have devised a cheaper, cleaner, and easier way to transfer the nano-material graphene onto a chosen substrate, which has potential to revolutionize how heat is handled in smartphones and computers. The team won the Malott Innovation Awards, given to the best senior design project of the year.

Purdue ME students selected for NSF Graduate Research Fellowships

Two students from Purdue University's School of Mechanical Engineering have been selected for the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP). Antonio Alvarez-Valdivia and Orlando G. Rivera Gonzalez are part of the 2022 class of GRFP Fellows. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions.

Every year, Purdue students design, build, test, and compete with custom race cars. This year, they're hosting a public event to unveil three of their new race cars for 2022. The event will take place in Fowler Hall on Friday, April 15, at 4:30 p.m.

Purdue approves $73 million funding for new High-Speed Propulsion Lab

Purdue University’s work in national security took another giant leap forward, as the Board of Trustees approved $73 million for the construction of a new high-speed propulsion laboratory at Zucrow Labs. Otherwise known as ZL9, the lab will feature new testing capabilities for innovative research in rocket combustion and gas turbine engines, continuing Purdue’s history of world-class research and development in those areas, and reaching a scale only found in government or large defense contractor facilities.
