imec-Purdue University Workshop on Advanced Semiconductor Technologies and System Scaling

Semiconductor technologies are becoming increasingly ubiquitous and pivotal for improving the efficiency, resilience, and capabilities of most industries - including the more traditional ones. From production approaches to products, the demands and challenges for semiconductor technology are increasing rapidly. To fulfill future computing needs, semiconductor technologies must take leaps forward. Performance and energy efficiency need to drastically improve, even though traditional 'linear' scaling is becoming ever more difficult. Meanwhile, concerns around the environmental impact of chip manufacturing need to be addressed. Two of the most renowned institutions in semiconductor research, Purdue University and imec, are aiming to make significant contributions toward solving these challenges. They are combining their complementary strengths, building on recent breakthroughs, and connecting to the local semiconductor ecosystem to maximize impact. Join this workshop to gain insights into the collaboration between imec and Purdue University, and the crucial role of semiconductor research in addressing the most pressing challenges in the semiconductor industry.

Chips industry exec, Indiana's chief justice, Caltech's president and Indiana Fever coach headline spring Presidential Lecture Series

The CEO of a leading global semiconductor manufacturer, the president of Caltech, the new head coach of the Indiana Fever and the chief justice of Indiana will join Purdue President Mung Chiang this spring as part of the Presidential Lecture Series. First up is Thomas Caulfield, president and CEO of New York-based chips manufacturer GlobalFoundries, who has an extensive career spanning engineering, executive and global operational leadership with major technology companies. His talk is at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 in Stewart Center?s Fowler Hall.
