Maithili Upadhyay
Biography
Maithili Upadhyay is a Biomedical Engineering student at Purdue University in Indianapolis. She gained industry experience as a New Drug Discovery R&D Intern at Kashiv Biosciences, where she analyzed the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of new drugs, contributing to pharmaceutical advancements. Her role involved conducting literature reviews, comparing experimental data across key projects, and assisting in the evaluation of a patented biosimilar. She also has research experience from her work on an artificial retina manufacturing project as part of the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Initiative (MURI).
Maithili is an active leader on campus, serving on the Women in Engineering (WiE) Indianapolis student leadership team, where she mentors and supports fellow students. As a Team Supervisor for Boiler Gold Rush (BGR), she oversees and mentors Team Leaders, ensuring a smooth transition for incoming students. Additionally, she is the Indianapolis Liaison for the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), working to enhance student engagement and opportunities in Indianapolis.
Beyond academics and leadership, Maithili is passionate about Indian Classical Dance- Kathak, where she continues to grow and excel. She also loves baking, camping, and exploring the outdoors in her free time.
