Professional Career

Melanie currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Interventional and Surgical Technologies for Spectrum Plastics, a DuPont Business, in Tucson, Arizona. After graduation, Melanie began her full-time career as a Process Engineer at Abbott Laboratories in Abbot Park, IL. During her time in this role, she gained valuable experience across diagnostics, hospital products and pharmaceutical divisions. Melanie completed several working rotations in various areas of the company while in Abbot’s Professional Development Program.

In 2007, Melanie transitioned to Spectrum Plastics, where she navigated through several technical positions including program management, product development and quality engineering. Progressing to a leadership role with the engineering team, she spearheaded the design and development efforts for silicone catheters and other clinical products. Melanie became a member of Spectrum’s leadership team in 2020, overseeing six manufacturing sites spanning from Utah to Ireland.

Purdue Experience

Completed a 5-session co-op with Zimmer Biomet and DePuy in Warsaw, Indiana.

Was an active member of the Purdue Gymnastics Club.
